Single Camera Production

Introduction
Within this production, i would be creating both a minute and a 5 minute production. Within this production i would be using a single camera, i would be analysing different types of single camera techniques and drama's.

A mode of production where one camera operates at a time and the shots are done in the most logical  efficient order. The use of single camera technique is so that the audience are able to interact with the product, in order words its a way where the audience would feel apart of the production. Within single camera techniques there are various different types of advantages and disadvantages.
The disadvantages of single camera production are that within the production, the director and producers would need to take several different types of shots, in order to show different skills within the production, but also so that the production wouldn't be boring. So they would need to take several shots from different angles within the single camera. The other disadvantage of this would be that the producer would have to take several shots in order to take the right image/film. So this indicates that single camera production take a lot of time to produce and a lot of time, would indicate it would take more time to edit. The time it takes the production also to edit much longer, as this would be an disadvantage.

However on the other hand there are some advantages of single camera techniques, it makes the production look like the producer used a multi-camera however they didn't, the advantage of this is so that the production would then be able to look more professional. Also within single camera production, they are very cheap, this indicates that the cost of the production would cost as much as multi-camera production. Within a single - camera production you would have more control of what is going on, this indicates that the director would be able to have control the different types of things going on within the production and they are able to control the different types of shots/angles being taken. The quality of the production are the same, this indicates within the production, the quality of the video is going to be the same, the advantage of this is that the sequence of the production going to be the same. Also the last advantage of single camera production, is that its very easy to get around as you would only be using one camera. The advantage of this is the speed of the production and moving from one location to another.

There are different types of generes such as Sci-fi, Comedy, Thriller and drama types of film which make single camera production. The way they form there single camera production is used in different ways, which they want to enage with the audience. The production is met, so that the audience are able to make the customers think that they use more then one type of camera.

Equilibrium:

Todorov theory is based on narrative structure type of production, this theory implies that within every narrative production there is a structure, also within a non-narrative production there is still a structure. Todorov made this theory becuase he believes in a production there is a beginning, middle and an end. Within Torodov theory there are based type of characters which narrative structure films are based upon these are:
  •  The Villain - opposes the hero.
  • The Donor - helps the hero by giving him a magical object.
  • The Helper - helps the hero.
  • The Princess - is normally the reward for the hero and needs to be protected from the villain.
  •  The Father - recognizes the hero and is normally sought after in the narrative
  • The Dispatcher - sends the hero on his task.
  • The Hero - reacts to the donor and gets the princess.
  •  The False Hero - takes credit for hero's actions or tries to marry the princess.

(1) "The theory is simply this:
  • The fictional environment begins with a state of equilibrium (everything is as it should be)
  • It then suffers some disruption (disequilibrium)
  • New equilibrium is produced at the end of the narrative "
Equilibrium is a state in which opposing forces or influences are balanced, this is linked into a production as there is balance when the production is made as there would be a structure which the audience would understand.

    •  A state of equilibrium (all is as it should be)
    • A disruption of that order by an event
    • A recognition that the disorder has occurred
    • An attempt to repair the damage of the disruption
    An example of Todorov Theory:

  •
